Our hearts go out to people in Chennai & Cuddalore, South India who are going through the aftermath of the worst flooding in the last 100 years. BC Grimm will perform a 15-20 min solo cello set including Bach & Indian Classical; dedicated in remembrance of the lives lost during the flooding. Exquisite music and dance acts on display -performed by artists from Madison and Milwaukee. This event is hosted by Saaz, Madison’s largest group of Indian musicians.

For the past three winter seasons, local folk musicians, headed by Anna Vogelzang, have banded together to present Wintersong, an all-ages holiday show to benefit Second Harvest Foodbank of Southern Wisconsin. In 2014 alone – thanks to a packed Barrymore Theatre – over $10,000 was raised, providing 30,252 meals for families and individuals who struggle with hunger. Since 2012, Wintersong has raised 40,452 meals to help end hunger in southwestern Wisconsin.
The public is invited to join musicians Anna Vogelzang, Phox, Love High, Corey Mathew Hart, Faux Fawn, Crane Your Swan Neck, and special guests as the band of merrymakers cover holiday tunes, perform seasonal group numbers, and raise donations for Second Harvest Foodbank in this family-friendly, fun-filled event’s fourth year.
The concert, presented by Majestic Live & the Barrymore Theater, will take place at the Barrymore Saturday December 12, 2015 at 8PM. This event is generously supported by the Isthmus, Wisconsin Public Radio, Furthermore Beer and WORT.
Guests will also hear from Kris Tazelaar of Second Harvest. A raffle with prizes from many local businesses will be held during the evening as well.
Concert tickets are $18 in advance, on sale at B-Side Records, Frugal Muse, Strictly Discs, Star Liquor, MadCity Music, Sugar Shack and the Barrymore. An artistic exploration of societies’ faith in Western medical science becoming the new religion. MRI stain glass designs, cello + MRI sound design, & video projections will be on display from Tuesday 11/10 – Friday 11/13 from 1:00-7:00pm. On Thursday November 12th at 6:30pm, BC Grimm will join Koala Yip to perform a live adaptation of this 7 part piece for cello + MRI sounds using a live cello>computer setup. This soundscape will accompany the exhibit, lecture and dance to close out Koala’s MA exhibition. A double reception will follow. We invite you to join this fascinating conversation.
This new ambient remix of “slowly by your passing” by BRAIN GRIMMER is part of a living-document remix compilation on Obsolete Media Objects, titled “Visions & Revisions“. The original track was released on CJ Boyd’s album Precariat (available on Joyful Noise Recordings). Thanks to special guest, Geoff Brady on drums.
This 12-minute piece is a sonic meditation in remembrance of the many unarmed people of color who have suffered police brutality. It is a painful prayer dedicated to the families and communities who have lost their loved ones to such violence. For those in the Madison, WI area who are willing to pay for this remix, I urge you to instead, donate your money to Young Gifted & Black Coalition’s go-fund-me campaign.
